Description
Beautifully presented in a water gilt frame.
Antoine Blanchard was born in 1910 in the Village of Blois, on the Loire. He showed artistic talent from a young age and was sent by his parents to study at the School of Beaux Arts in Rennes. However after the war his father left him their family joinery business which meant he had little time to devote to art and had to turn down many commissions. It was not until later on in his life when he retired and moved to Paris that he began to pursue his career as an artist. He created works depicting the street scenes of Paris, full of not only technical ability but also capturing the energy and charm of the city. These works appealed to many and form part of private collections around the world.
