Description
Ushak or Oushack rugs come from Turkey and were originally referred to as ‘Anatolian’. They were traditionally very popular across Europe when the interest in Oriental carpets began. The variety known as ‘Lotto’ were very sought after by the wealthy people of the Renaissance and is evidenced by their presence in many paintings from this period. Beige tones were introduced later and together with the silky wool that these rugs are known for ensued their popularity.
