Description
This unique design for a coffee table was inspired by an 18th century rent table which originally has six drawers, were taller and used by landlords to keep rent and papers relating to their estates. This example has seven drawers, each labelled with a day of the week on brass. Each drawer has a brass drop handle and brass escutcheon with a working lock and key. Produced circa 20th century, this table is mahogany with an amboyna burr circle at the centre. The drawers and edge of the table are decorated with bead moulding. Beneath the heptagonal section there is also another drawer in the same style as the other seven.
